Day 1: Cycling to Mfereji Maasai Village

After picking up at 8 am from the hotel in Arusha town, you will drive to Monduli, offering a unique experience that is unlike any other destination in Tanzania. The town is known for its beautiful landscapes, wildlife, and rich culture. We will make a stop first at the Rift Valley ViewPoint to take in the spectacular sight of Tanzania’s plains. We will start our cycling to the bottom of  Kona Saba ViewPoint which is 20 kilometers to Mfereji Maasai village -which is a small village to Oldonyolengai and Kerimasi Mountains via  Engaruka and also being the gateway to national parks like Ngorongoro and Serengeti. Learn everything we know about nature, wildlife and plants. On your arrival, you will be welcomed with Maasai songs and served with hot local lunch. The rest of the day is yours to get to know the area, learn something about our traditions, and help with milking cows before dinner at Maasai Bomas.

Day 2: Maasai Village Experience

  • Do a Maasai Village walk around the mountain.
  • Spot some animals like giraffes, zebras, and antelopes.
  • Visit a school and plant trees at the school.
  • A chance exists for a tourist to offer sanitary pads to the schoolgirls
  • Learn how to make traditional barbeques (Nyama Choma) like a Maasai.

As Maasai, we usually wake up with the rising sun to milk cows and goats. After breakfast, you will be able to go hiking. You can start your day with an invigorating walk. A nearby mountain provides awesome views, and lucky trekkers might even spot some animals like zebras, giraffes, elephants, and antelopes. You will spend time having spectacular views before lunch. You might also like to have an experience of throwing a spear or using a bow and arrow like our warriors – the Ol Moran – are used to doing.  You will visit the kids in school and provide sanitary pads to the girls and we will also plant trees at the school. You may also visit the women of our community and craft yourself some traditional jewelry. In the evening, we will stoke up a great barbecue for you. Learn how to make fire without matches or lighters, and enjoy some yummy “Nyama Choma” like a Maasai!

Day 3: Nature Walk and Farewell to Mfereji Maasai Village

Today, sadly, it is time to bid farewell to your temporary abode in Mfereji Maasai village. You will commence your day with a serene stroll through the natural surroundings, tracing the paths of diverse wildlife. Perhaps you will be fortunate enough to witness zebras or baboons in pursuit of their morning nourishment – an awe-inspiring experience on foot. Subsequently, you will be chauffeured back to Arusha, concluding this unforgettable adventure.
